Endowed scholarships

The Florence Mockridge and Barry B. Lanning Opportunity Scholarship was established to support aspiring educators who demonstrate academic promise, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for making a difference through teaching. This endowed scholarship reflects the donor’s commitment to investing in future educators who have the ability and determination to succeed but may lack the financial means to pursue their educational goals.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be enrolled full-time at Huston-Tillotson University.
• Must be pursuing a degree in the Department of Educator Preparation.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Must exhibit academic potential, intellectual curiosity, and a sincere commitment to becoming a teacher.

Selection Process:

Recipients are selected by Huston-Tillotson University in accordance with university financial aid policies and the donor’s established criteria. The number of scholarships awarded each year is determined by available endowment funding.

Worley/Bowles Endowment Scholarship

The Worley/Bowles Endowment Scholarship supports students pursuing a degree in Teacher Education at Huston-Tillotson University. This endowed scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to the teaching profession.

Award Amount:

• Award amounts vary based on available endowment funding.
• Scholarship awards are typically divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in a Teacher Education program at Huston-Tillotson University.
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Must be considered worthy of receiving the scholarship based on the established selection criteria.

Selection Process:
Recipients are selected by the appropriate academic department in accordance with the donor’s intent and university scholarship policies.

Please Note: Scholarship funds are applied directly to the student’s HT account and may only be used toward eligible educational charges. Awards are subject to available funding and continued eligibility.
