Departmental Scholarships

The St. David’s Foundation Scholarship supports students who aspire to careers in the healthcare profession by providing a full-tuition scholarship during their junior and senior years at Huston-Tillotson University. Funded by the St. David’s Foundation, this scholarship invests in future healthcare leaders committed to serving their communities.

Award Amount:

  • Full tuition scholarship for the recipient’s junior and senior years at Huston-Tillotson University.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time incoming first-year or sophomore student.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be pursuing one of the following degree programs:
    • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Biology
    • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
    • Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must intend to pursue a healthcare career, such as:
    • Physician
    • Surgeon
    • Nurse
    • Dentist
    • Physical Therapist

Priority Consideration:
Preference may be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Successfully completed an advanced science course, such as AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, or Anatomy.
  • Reside in the Greater Austin area, including Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, or Williamson counties.

Application Requirements:
Applicants should submit the following:

  • High school transcript.
  • General scholarship essay.
  • Essay describing why they wish to pursue a healthcare career.
  • College transcript (optional, if applicable).

Selection Process:
Recipients are selected by the appropriate academic department based on scholarship criteria, academic achievement, and program fit.

Please Note: Scholarship recipients must continue to meet all university and program requirements to remain eligible. Award availability is contingent upon funding provided by the St. David’s Foundation.

Employee, Spouse, and Dependent

Huston-Tillotson University offers tuition waiver benefits to eligible employees, spouses, and dependents in accordance with university policy.

Eligibility for this benefit must first be verified and approved by the Office of Human Resources. Once eligibility has been confirmed, students may proceed with any required enrollment and documentation processes.

The Presidential Scholarship is the highest scholarship award offered at Huston-Tillotson University. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding students for their academic achievement and potential for success.

Recipients may be awarded one of the following scholarship levels:

  • Full Cost Scholarship: Covers tuition, mandatory fees, room, and board.
  • Tuition and Fees Scholarship: Covers tuition and mandatory fees only.

Scholarship awards are renewable for up to four academic years (eight semesters), excluding summer terms, provided students continue to meet all renewal requirements.

Eligibility and Renewal Requirements:

  • Must enroll as a full-time traditional student each semester.
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4.
  • Must successfully complete at least 30 credit hours by the end of each academic year.
  • Scholarship support is limited to a maximum of eight semesters.
  • Award covers up to 17 credit hours per semester. Additional charges may apply for enrollment exceeding the covered credit-hour limit.

Please Note: Scholarship awards are non-transferable and subject to all university policies and procedures. Award coverage is determined at the time of selection and may vary between recipients.

The HT Chorister Scholarship recognizes talented student vocalists who contribute to the musical excellence of Huston-Tillotson University’s choral program. This scholarship supports students who demonstrate exceptional vocal ability, academic achievement, and a commitment to participating in university choral ensembles.

Award Amount:

  • Award amounts vary based on available funding and departmental recommendations.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be admitted to Huston-Tillotson University.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional vocal talent through an audition or other evaluation as determined by the Department of Humanities and Fine Arts.
  • Must participate in the university’s choral program.
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Preference may be given to upper-class students who have demonstrated continued excellence and commitment to the choral program.

Selection Process:
Recipients are selected by the Department of Humanities and Fine Arts based on vocal ability, academic standing, participation in the choral program, and departmental recommendations.
