The Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences at HTU fosters critical thinking, ethical leadership, and a deep understanding of human behavior and social systems. Through rigorous coursework, research, and community engagement, we prepare students to address complex challenges in criminal justice, public policy, social welfare, and related fields.
The Criminal Justice program is a four-year interdisciplinary degree exploring crime, law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Students develop analytical skills, knowledge of justice systems, and real-world experience to serve in public safety, policy, or legal settings.
The Sociology program studies how societies organize themselves, how institutions function, and how social change occurs. Students are trained to analyze social structures, cultural systems, and the forces that shape community life.
The Political Science curriculum covers the foundations, structures, and processes of politics at national and global levels. It prepares students for work in public service, governance, policy, research, or further study in law or government.
The Pre-Law program offers a tailored interdisciplinary curriculum to prepare students for admission to and success in law school. Courses emphasize critical reasoning, writing, ethics, and foundational legal thinking.
The Psychology major examines human cognition, emotion, and behavior through scientific methods. Graduates can pursue careers or advanced study in counseling, research, education, health, and related fields.
