  • Dr. Cynthia J. Charles, Ed.D

    Director of Library and Media Services

    Dr. Cynthia J. Charles served as the Director of the Will W. Alexander Library at Dillard University for 12 years. She previously served as the head librarian and branch manager of the Austin Public Library, George Washington Carver Branch in Austin, Texas and Library Director at Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Dr. Charles earned her bachelor’s degree in General Studies – Arts & Humanities, from the University of Houston-Downtown and her Master’s in Library and Information Studies from the University of Texas in Austin. She completed her Doctorate in the summer of 2019 in Educational Administration at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.

  • Mrs. Ariel Radock, MLS

    Public Services Librarian

    Ariel Radock has lived in Boston, MA and Chicago, IL before moving to Austin. She has two undergraduate degrees in Art History and Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Ariel completed a Master’s of Library Science degree at Texas Woman’s University in 2021. She is excited to assist students and faculty members with finding information in the library while fostering information literacy skills.

  • Sarah Duhan, MS

    Public Services Library Assistant

    Sarah Duhan earned her undergraduate degree in Japanese Studies from the University of Arizona. She earned her Master’s of Science in Library Science from the University of North Texas in 2023. Before coming to the Downs-Jones Library, Sarah worked for eight years at the Lubbock Public Library and for four years at the University of Texas Libraries. She’s eager to help any library visitors meet their information needs. When away from the library, Sarah enjoys woodworking, playing bass guitar, and camping with her dog, Irwin.

  • Ms. Selah Tabibian

    Public Services Library Assistant

    Selah Tabibian is a minister, author, activist, national spoken word artist, producer and host of the Podcast/TV show called Meeting of the Mindz. Selah graduated Summa Cum Laude in the field of Psychology and Philosophy from Huston-Tillotson University and is thrilled to be back on campus helping students in the library.

  • Marshanah Taylor, MSIS

    Technical Services & Systems Librarian

    Born and raised in Oak Park, IL near Chicago, Marshanah Taylor is a data and information professional currently working in the Libraries, Archives, and Museums field. Among one of the first graduates from both the Informatics program in 2023 and the integrated master’s in Information Studies program in 2024 at The University of Texas at Austin, she has worked for over 5 years in various digital and technical services roles within the higher education and cultural heritage sectors. When she’s not cataloging books or helping patrons access electronic resources on campus, she can be found at home pampering her adorable orange tabby cat Garfield and binge-watching K-dramas.

  • Qiuying “Kitty” Chen, MA

    University Archivist

    Kitty Chen is from Guangzhou, China. She holds a BA in History and minored in Film production from Arizona State University, and a Master’s degree in Public History from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She has worked in museum and archival areas over the years. As University Archivist, Kitty is exciting to organize and digitalize the rich historical materials of Huston-Tillotson University, as well as supporting students and faculty members with archival research aid. Aside from her passion in history, Kitty’s favorite hobbies are watching sci-fi fantasy TV shows and writing stories. She also loves travel and food!
