International Student from The Bahamas Begins 2026–2027 Term Leading the A.P.E.X. Administration
Austin, TX – Huston-Tillotson University proudly announces Antwoine Cummings, an international student from The Bahamas, as the University’s 74th Student Government Association President for the 2026–2027 academic year. Cummings was officially inaugurated on September 11, 2026, as the leader of the A.P.E.X. Administration.
Cummings’ election marks an important moment in student leadership at Huston-Tillotson University, highlighting the diverse perspectives and experiences that contribute to the University’s vibrant campus community. As an international student, Cummings brings a global perspective to the role and represents the growing involvement of students from around the world in campus leadership and governance.
As SGA President, Cummings serves as an official representative of the student body and work collaboratively with the University administrators, faculty, staff, and fellow students to advocate for student needs, strengthen campus engagement, and support initiatives that contribute to a connected and inclusive University community.
Under the leadership of the A.P.E.X. Administration, Cummings will focus on strengthening communication between students and University leadership while creating opportunities for students to become more actively engaged in campus life.

Cummings’ journey from The Bahamas to Huston-Tillotson University reflects the University’s commitment to cultivating a campus community where students from diverse backgrounds can participate, lead, and make meaningful contributions.
His election provides an opportunity to highlight the role of international students in student government and campus leadership. Through his presidency, Cummings will bring his experiences and global perspective to conversations surrounding student engagement, community building, and the overall student experience.
The SGA plays an important role in providing a platform for student voices and creating opportunities for students to participate in the University community. Through collaboration with University leadership and campus organizations, the SGA helps facilitate communication and engagement around issues affecting students.
The September 11 inauguration formally marked the beginning of Cummings’ tenure as the 74th SGA President and the launch of the A.P.E.X. Administration.
Throughout the 2026–2027 academic year, the administration will work to foster student involvement, strengthen connections across the campus community, and create opportunities for students to contribute to the continued growth of Huston-Tillotson University.
