Austin, Texas — Huston-Tillotson University (HT) has partnered with Teachworthy to provide Education students with a streamlined pathway to Texas teacher certification while earning their bachelor’s degree.
Beginning this fall, students majoring in education will have the option to pursue either a certification track through Teachworthy’s state-approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) or a non-certification track designed for careers in education beyond the classroom.
Students who choose the certification track will be dually enrolled in both HT’s education program and Teachworthy’s EPP. The partnership allows students to complete most certification requirements before graduation, positioning them to transition more quickly into the teaching profession with both their degree and a clear pathway to certification.
“Our priority has always been providing students with a high-quality academic experience and clear pathways to professional success,” said Dr. Archibald Vanderpuye, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “This partnership ensures that students who want to become Texas educators have the guidance and support to do so.”
According to Dr. Amanda Masino, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, this collaboration “strengthens what we already do well. “Students will receive a strong academic foundation at HT while benefiting from a certification pathway that prepares them to enter the profession with confidence.”
Teachworthy will provide individualized advising, instructional coaching, certification guidance and ongoing support throughout the certification process, helping students prepare for success both in the classroom and beyond.
“This is an exciting opportunity for our students and the future of educator preparation at Huston-Tillotson University,” said Dr. Kelley Eley, Chair of university’s Education department. “Students will earn their education degrees while receiving personalized certification support, mentoring, exam preparation and advising. By completing most certification requirements before graduation, they will be well positioned to begin their teaching careers immediately.”
