The William Harrison Bailey, Jr. and Vivian C. Bailey Scholarship Fund
The William Harrison Bailey, Jr. and Vivian C. Bailey Scholarship Fund supports graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and perseverance while being raised in a single-parent household. This scholarship helps students pursue their educational goals at a UNCF member institution or Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
Award Amount:
- Up to $5,000 annually.
- The scholarship may be renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient continues to meet all renewal requirements.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a graduating high school senior.
- Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Must demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by the college or university’s Financial Aid Office.
- Must have been raised by or currently reside with a single parent.
Application Requirements:
Applicants must submit a complete application through the UNCF Scholarship Portal, including:
- Current and final high school transcript.
- Admission letter and financial aid award letter from a UNCF member institution or HBCU.
- FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR).
- One-page personal statement responding to the designated essay prompt.
Please Note: Scholarship applications must be submitted by the published deadline. Only complete applications submitted through the UNCF Scholarship Portal will be considered. Renewal is contingent upon continued eligibility and funding availability.
