Friday Apr, 05 2024
Austin, Texas – April 5, 2024 – The HT Certified ReLaunch Madness Party marked a triumphant celebration of student achievement and the culmination of HT’s initiative to promote career readiness through its free soft skills training platform, HT Certified.
The event was an electrifying affair, echoing the spirit of “March Madness,” where HT students who completed soft skills training courses on the platform were honored. The HT Certified ReLaunch Madness initiative, akin to the fervor of basketball brackets, guided students towards the victory of acquiring essential soft skills certificates.
Highlighting the evening was the chance for students who completed at least one soft skills course to win coveted Apple iPads, generously sponsored by the Office of Transformation and Innovation. Among the fortunate winners were standout students Naidelin Sanchez, America Macias, Armani Fowler, and Ayo Isinkaye, who walked away with these prestigious prizes.
Adding to the excitement, students who conquered the HT Career Readiness Word Search were rewarded with H-E-B Gift Cards, courtesy of the Quality Enhancement Plan. A total of twenty-one students demonstrated their proficiency, earning these well-deserved rewards.
Guest speaker Dr. Alphonse Sterling, a distinguished NASA Scientist, captivated the audience with his insights into the importance of career readiness skills, particularly emphasizing writing skills. Dr. Sterling shared anecdotes from his illustrious career as a scientist and astronomer, featured prominently in the documentary “Black Suns: An Astrophysics Adventure.” Moreover, he enlightened attendees about the workings of a “total eclipse,” coinciding with the upcoming April 8th celestial event. Dr. Sterling’s enlightening discourse was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Student Affairs and the Department of Natural Sciences.
The HT Certified platform was initially introduced during the 2023 I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy’s Career Success Lab, aiming to equip students with essential career readiness skills. The HT Certified ReLaunch Madness initiative further underscored the platform’s significance, serving as a catalyst for students to continue honing their skills and enhancing their career prospects.
