Welcome to Huston-Tillotson University! I’m LaTari D. Fleming, your Dean of Student Affairs. My mission is to support, empower, and guide every student as they navigate academic, social, and personal growth opportunities. I work to ensure HTU is a safe, inclusive, and thriving environment where all students can succeed and leave a lasting legacy.

About LaTari D. Fleming

LaTari Fleming brings 15 years of higher education experience in student affairs, leadership development, and campus engagement. He holds:

  • Master of Arts in Student Affairs, Northwestern State University
  • Master of Arts in Teaching (Psychology focus), Grambling State University
  • Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management & Marketing, Grambling State University

Dean Fleming has a proven record of creating innovative programs, supporting student leaders, and cultivating a vibrant campus life. He is deeply committed to mentoring students, fostering leadership, and ensuring that every HTU student feels heard, valued, and empowered.

Leadership & Campus Involvement

Under Dean Fleming’s guidance, students at HTU benefit from:

  • Campus Life & Student Engagement: Overseeing SGA, CAB, Royal Court, Greek Life, and student organizations
  • Judicial Affairs & Student Conduct: Supporting students in understanding expectations and resolving issues constructively
  • Leadership Workshops & Programs: Training students in professional development, conflict resolution, and event planning
  • Wellness & Mental Health Advocacy: Collaborating with Counseling Services and Accessibility/ADA support
  • Community & Alumni Relations: Encouraging students to connect with alumni, community partners, and civic opportunities
