Dr. Shellee O’Brien

Shellee O’Brien is a fierce advocate for thinking together and Assistant Professor of Political Science. She has worked with educators from across the country through two National Endowment for the Humanities projects– the National Academy for Civics and Government and the Landmarks Series at James Madison’s Montpelier. Through this work, Shellee accepted an invitation to join the design team developing new galleries at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro, North Carolina. Closer to home, Shellee has taught Great Questions in American Government at Austin Community College and worked with faculty members to develop discussion-driven curriculum focused that centers transformative texts in college classrooms.
