 Students considering majoring in business administration, communication, computer science, criminal justice, education, kinesiology, mathematics, or music are encouraged to apply to attend the I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy.

Experience College Life with I.D.E.A.L Summer Academy

Students live and learn on campus as they acclimate to the college environment, make new friends, and experience college life before the fall semester begins. Our dynamic summer program allows students to earn college credit, learn impressive career readiness skills, enhance current skills, discover Austin, Texas, and make new friends.

Program Overview

  • Program Eligibility

    Students considered for participation in the HT I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy must meet the following requirements:

    • Be admitted or conditionally admitted to Huston-Tillotson University
    • Be available to attend the program for the entire six-week summer session
    • Be a serious student
  • Program Highlights

    • Enroll in at least nine (9) hours of coursework
    • Attend study/discussion groups with supplemental instructors and tutors
    • Reside in on-campus housing for the duration of the program
    • Attend academic, leadership, and career workshops/seminars
    • Meet with counselors for academic advising, course scheduling, and assistance with career goal development
  • Program Benefits

    During the summer program, participants will benefit from the following early intervention services:

    • Early assessment
    • Mentoring and academic advisement
    • Registration and financial aid advisement
    • Career and leadership development workshops
    • Become familiar with HT’s campus and surrounding Austin metro community
