Wednesday Aug, 06 2025
Indianapolis, IN (August 6, 2025)— This summer, Aaron Williams, a rising senior at Huston-Tillotson University, served as a Teacher’s Assistant at Rooted School Indianapolis, located on the east side of the city. In this role, Williams worked closely with urban youth, supporting their academic growth with a particular focus on Language Arts.
Throughout the internship, Williams led 7th through 9th grade students through engaging lessons on literary devices, effective communication, and conflict resolution. His approach to teaching was grounded in Biblical principles, encouraging students to think critically and reflectively.
“This internship was more than just a professional opportunity, it was a personal calling,” said Williams. “As a student at Huston-Tillotson University, my HBCU has opened doors I never imagined. The friendships and support I’ve received there were key to making this experience possible.”
Williams contributed to crafting lesson plans, fostering classroom engagement, and building meaningful relationships with his students. The experience strengthened his skills as an educator and affirmed his passion for serving and empowering young people.
Now preparing for his final year at Huston-Tillotson, Williams will return to campus inspired and motivated. His message to fellow students is clear:
“There is so much to gain throughout your college journey—far beyond the classroom walls. Stay open, stay ready, and stay rooted.”
