Financial Clearance

Guide to Financial Clearance

Welcome to the fRAMily!

The Student Accounts Office is here to help you understand your tuition, fees, housing charges, payment plan options, and steps to become financially cleared for the semester.

What Does “Financially Cleared” Mean?

A student is financially cleared when:

  1. 80% of total semester charges are paid (using financial aid, scholarships, and/or personal payment), AND
  2. The remaining 20% is placed on an official payment plan in our system.

You must be financially cleared before moving into housing and before classes begin.

These totals are estimates. Your actual balance may vary based on your course load, housing assignment, and aid package.

How to Calculate Your Minimum Payment

  1. Log into Self-Service → Student Finance → Make a Payment → Continue to Paypath → Account Summary to view your charges.
(If housing does not appear yet, add the estimated $4,374.43 to your tuition charges.) (https://htu-ss.colleague.elluciancloud.com/Student/Finance/AccountSummary)
  2. Add all your semester charges to get your Total Semester Cost.
  3. Multiply your total by 80%.
This amount is your minimum payment due.
  4. Subtract your confirmed financial aid from that amount.
    • If aid is more than 80%, you may owe $0 upfront, and the remaining amount can go on a payment plan.
    • If aid creates a credit balance, this becomes your refund once aid disburses.

Example with Estimated Financial Aid

Total charges: $12,204.71
80% minimum due: $9,763.77
Financial aid: $7,204.71
Minimum payment due after aid: $2,559.06

Remaining 20% ($2,440.94) goes on the payment plan.
