Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Huston–Tillotson University Wins First Place Step Show at District Conference

Austin, TX — The Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Huston-Tillotson University proudly earned 1st Place in the Step Show Competition at the fraternity’s recent district conference, showcasing exceptional unity, creativity, and tradition in front of a dynamic audience of brothers and supporters from across the region.

The chapter delivered an electrifying performance that demonstrated precision, brotherhood, and pride, ultimately securing the top honor and advancing to the Southwestern Regional Competition in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they will represented their district against chapters from Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

In addition to the step show victory, members and supporters of the Huston–Tillotson community were recognized in several other competitions during the conference:

  • Xiara Berry earned 3rd Runner-Up in the prestigious Miss Black and Gold Competition, demonstrating excellence in scholarship, service, and leadership.

  • Dreux Black and Nathan Maxille secured 3rd Place in the Hobart S. Jarrett Debate Competition, highlighting their academic strength and commitment to intellectual discourse.

Yemisi Obalaee, President of the Delta Chapter, expressed pride in the chapter’s accomplishments.

“This victory represents the hard work, dedication, and brotherhood of the men of Delta Chapter. Our brothers committed countless hours preparing for this moment, and we are honored to represent Huston–Tillotson University and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at the regional level. We are equally proud of Xiara Berry and our debate team for their outstanding performances that continue to reflect the excellence of our campus community.”
