Austin, Texas — Huston-Tillotson University has announced the appointment of Vincent D. Robinson as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective Monday, November 17, 2025. Robinson brings more than two decades of experience in collegiate athletics, coaching, and student development, with a proven record of transforming programs, advancing academic performance, and generating new opportunities for student-athletes.A passionate advocate for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Robinson believes athletics serve as a catalyst for education, leadership, and community engagement. “Huston-Tillotson’s legacy of excellence, integrity, and service aligns perfectly with my personal and professional values,” Robinson said. “I am honored to join the HT family and look forward to building a culture that champions both competitive success and academic achievement.”

Before joining Huston-Tillotson, Robinson served as Director of Athletics and Compliance Officer at Clinton College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he transformed the Golden Bears athletic program—expanding from three to eleven sports, launching new developmental teams that generated more than $2.5 million in institutional revenue, and raising the department’s GPA from 2.4 to 3.1. He led significant facility upgrades, implemented academic accountability systems, and established partnerships with organizations such as the YMCA, Prideway Transportation, and HUDL. Robinson also budgeted for the first full-time athletic trainer in the college’s history, strengthening student-athlete care and safety.

Prior to Clinton College, Robinson served as Deputy Director of Athletics at Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama, where he created a structured team study-hall program that helped the Golden Bears earn the SIAC Commissioner’s Cup for the highest GPA in the conference. As Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach, he helped guide the Golden Bears to three SIAC Conference Championships in four years, earning national recognition as one of the Top 50 Division II Assistant Coaches by Silver Waves Media and Top HBCU Assistant Coach by the Minority Coaches Association in 2023.

Robinson’s commitment to youth development extends beyond the college arena. In 2009, he founded The Robinson School, an independent prep program designed to provide inner-city student-athletes with academic support and exposure opportunities. Every graduate earned a college scholarship, and the 2014 team captured the Prep School National Championship. Earlier, in 2001, he established the Vincent Robinson Basketball Academy in his hometown of Irvington, New Jersey, offering basketball training and life-skills mentoring to urban youth.

Robinson is the proud father of five children—Kimberly, Tiarah, Keyera, Taylor, and Jayden and the proud “Pop-Pop” of Francesca, Kyla and Omar III.
