Austin, Texas – February 6, 2024 – An innovational soft skills training platform designed to enhance a person’s career readiness competencies, increase productivity, and boost morale is now available for the Huston-Tillotson University family and its stakeholders.
HT Certified is a soft skills training platform that will empower the workforce with essential career readiness skills by providing dynamic and transformative video-based learning. The soft skills courses are mobile-friendly and time-considerate, allowing participants to complete each lesson in eight minutes or less. The videos are packed with valuable skill-developing information.
HT Certified was launched at Huston-Tillotson University (HT) in the summer of 2023 during the University’s I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy. Students enrolled in the Academy’s Career Success Lab were asked to complete one HT Certified course. After completing the soft skills course, the students earned a certification that can be shared with employers, posted on Instagram, and included on their LinkedIn accounts. A few of the HT students went above and beyond by completing more than the assigned course, resulting in them earning more soft skills certificates.
Johnathan Maldonado, an HT student who attended the I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy earned three HT Certified soft skills certificates during the Summer Academy, and since then, he has added four more HT Certified soft skills certificates to his repertoire.
“I chose to take more than one course so I can get a jumpstart and build my resume,” said Johnathan. “I wanted to make sure I understood the lessons they offered so I can put them into practice in the future.”
Research shows that 92% of employers view career readiness skills as the framework for a successful work environment. Huston-Tillotson University is committed to preparing its students by equipping them with the essential skills that will assist them with landing and keeping a meaningful job. “This soft skills platform is a great asset to the University’s career readiness plan,” said the Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan, Tina Reed, who also assists with managing the HT Certified platform. “We are using HT Certified in the classroom, in our HT student organization programs, and in our work-study program. We are also using it as our professional development certification program for our faculty, staff, and alumni.”
HT Certified offers a myriad of on-line courses such as Time Management, Adaptability and Work Ethic, Conflict Resolution, and Entry Level Leadership. The platform offers broad-based opportunities for students to strengthen their career readiness competencies while Huston-Tillotson University transforms the career education landscape.
