ATCP Certification Areas

Huston-Tillotson Alternative Certification Program has approval from the State Board for Educator Certification to prepare teacher candidates in the following certification areas:

1. Core Subjects with STR (Grades 4–8)
2. Core Subjects with STR (Grades EC–6)
3. English Language Arts and Reading with STR (Grades 4–8)
4. English Language Arts and Reading (Grades 7–12)
5. History (Grades 7–12)
6. Mathematics (Grades 4–8)
7. Mathematics (Grades 7–12)
8. Mathematics/Science (Grades 4–8)
9. Music (Grades EC–12)
10. Physical Education (Grades EC–12)
11. Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) (Grades 6–12)
12. Science (Grades 4–8)
13. Science (Grades 7–12)
14. Science: Life Science (Grades 7–12)
15. Science: Physical Science (Grades 6–12)
16. Social Studies (Grades 4–8)
17. Social Studies (Grades 7–12)
18. Special Education (Grades EC–12)
19. Career and Technical Education – Trade and Industrial Education (Grades 6–12)
20. *Bilingual Education Supplemental – Spanish (Grades NA)
21. *English as a Second Language Supplemental (Grades NA)

*Supplemental Certificates are not stand-alone certifications. A Core Subject and a single subject certificate is required before seeking a supplemental certificate. *Any subject with STR must take the STR content exam in addition to the content exam.
