After the information session and upon receipt of the ATCP Admission Application, references, TX PACT Scores, and all transcripts, a 30–45-minute interview will be scheduled. The interview requires a score of 70%. A TEA Transfer Form is required from all applicants transferring from another Educator Preparation Program.
Applicants should expect a Decision Letter within three business days of the interview. An acceptance letter or a denial letter to the candidate via Adobe Doc-U-Sign will be sent to the applicant within 7 days of the interview.
Applicants denied may reapply after resolving the cause for being denied or appeal by submitting a written appeal to the director within 10 business days of receipt of the decision letter.
Candidate Transfer: Applicants transferring from another alternative teacher certification program must submit their TEA Candidate Transfer Form from the releasing EPP before the scheduling of the HT interview. Transfer applicants must pay the full cost of tuition and fees for the program. Applicant’s transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis. Transferring EPP documented hours/credits are subject to review and are not automatically accepted for HT ATCP Credit.
We can only admit students to the EPP Alternative Teacher Certification Program only after receiving the signed ATCP Acceptance Letter.

Notification 1-Required Background Check
(1) Pursuant to the Texas Education Code (TEC), §22.083, candidate must undergo a criminal history background check prior to employment as an educator; and
(2) pursuant to the TEC, §22.0835, candidates must undergo a criminal history background check prior to any classroom placement.
Notification 2-Preliminary Criminal History Evaluation
Each applicant and enrollee in the EPP of the following regardless of whether the applicant or enrollee has been convicted of an offense:
(1) the potential ineligibility of an individual who has been convicted of an offense for issuance of a certificate on completion of the EPP;
(2) the current SBEC rules prescribed in 19 TAC §249.16… and
(3) The applicant has the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter as provided in 19 TAC Chapter 227, Subchapter B
