Move-In Details for I.D.E.A.L Summer Academy
Move-in for the I.D.E.A.L Summer Academy will take place on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Huston-Tillotson University, located at 900 Chicon Street, Austin, TX 78702. Upon arrival, families should enter through the main entrance on Chicon Street and check in at the security booth. You will then be directed to temporarily park behind the Davage-Durden Student Union to check in with I.D.E.A.L staff and receive your student’s room key.
Afterward, families may briefly park in front of the residence halls to unload belongings before moving their vehicles to the designated lot on Chalmers Avenue. Families may return to the residence halls on foot through the Chalmers entrance to assist your student with unpacking and setting up their rooms.
What to Expect
Students admitted to the I.D.E.A.L Summer Academy will be assigned housing in Beard-Burrows Residence Hall, where they will be paired with a roommate to support community building and peer connection. All housing assignments are coordinated by the Office of Residence Life. Once a student is officially accepted into the I.D.E.A.L program, the housing staff assigns them to a room as part of the program’s onboarding process.
Each residence hall is fully furnished and includes convenient amenities such as free laundry facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness and wellness center, and access to a community kitchen. These services are provided to ensure a comfortable and supportive living experience for all students.
Welcome Ceremony and Assigned Time Slots
Following move-in, we invite you to attend the Welcome Ceremony and Reception at 1:00 p.m. in the Davage-Durden Student Union. It’s a great opportunity to meet other students and families and kick off the summer with the HT community.
To ensure a smooth process, families are asked to select a move-in time slot using the link provided in your email. The Alpha window is from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and the Omega window is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please be sure to arrive during your designated window to help us maintain an organized move-in day.
