STEME Conference Hosted by Huston-Tillotson University Drew Participants from Around the Globe

Austin, Texas
– Nearly 200 students, scholars, researchers, faculty members and practitioners from around the globe virtually attended the International Conference on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Education (STEME) hosted by Huston-Tillotson University (HT). The five-day event, which ran from August 7-11, drew participants, not only from this country, but also from Mexico, Nigeria, Moldova, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Philippines and Ukraine.

According to Dr. Farzana Hussain, Associate Professor and Chair of the Mathematics Department at HT and a conference organizer, the event, which was held via Zoom, provided an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in STEME to present current research, share ongoing projects and participate in thoughtful discussions about current career possibilities, various educational pathways and networking opportunities. The conference format included PowerPoint presentations, Q&As, and panel discussions.

“The conference was an incredible opportunity for all us to share information and grow in our respective areas,” said Emily Rothenberg, Program Manager for the National Student Data Corps in New York City.

“The information shared during the conference inspired me greatly,” said Vineet Srivastava, an AI intern at Harvard University.
