Rams placed Ninth, solidifying their Top Ten finish nationally in the NAIA

Marion, Ind. – June 21, 2024 – Huston-Tillotson University’s women’s 4×400-meter relay team finished ninth in the nation as they qualified for the finals of the event at the 2024 NAIA Track and Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.

In their run to the event final, HT’s quartet of Ayanna Johnson, Chaleica Booker, Jazmyne White, and Jaymee Yelton set a school record of 3 minutes, 49.72 seconds in their preliminary run. The Rams finished third out of seven teams in their qualifying heat to advance to the final.

In the final, the Rams placed ninth, solidifying their Top Ten finish nationally in the NAIA.

The Rams’ 4×400-meter relay team anchored the group of seven HT athletes (five women, two men) that qualified for the NAIA national meet. White, a freshman from Jacksonville, Texas, competed in five events – the 4×400-meter relay, the 4×100-meter relay, the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and the triple jump.

Kamar Johnson and Aydan Chatman represented the HT men in individual events. Johnson ran the 110-meter hurdles, while Chatman ran the 800-meter race.

Ayanna Johnson joined White in representing HT in the 200-meter dash, while Yelton competed in the women’s 800-meter run.
