Huston-Tillotson University Rams Receiving Microsoft Surface Pro’s 7.0
Through the dedication and commitment of those that supported Huston-Tillotson University’s COVID-19 Support Fund, we are proud to announce the launch of RAM CONNECT! The Ram Connect program is dedicated solely to aid students in navigating their academic experience through technology support. New students will receive a Surface Pro 7 at the start of the term, fully loaded with all necessary software, such Canvas, Microsoft 365, and more to promote academic success!

The WHO
Beginning Summer 2020, all registered and financially cleared students will receive a Surface.
The WHAT
Microsoft Surface Pro 7’s –12.3″ — one of the top-rated devices for college students was selected to support learning on the go. Additionally, students will receive the attachable keyboard and pen, and the device will be customized with our HT Ram logo to further foster engagement and a sense of community and belonging. We are also seeking to equip students without access to WiFi with MiFi devices. Student success is the goal. When thinking through what type of technology would be best to deploy to our students, we thought it prudent to select a device that was congruent with our enterprise software solution Microsoft Office 365. The device most congruent with that enterprise software solution is the Microsoft Surface. With the Microsoft Surface, the Office 365 software is native to the device. It fully aligns with our additional instructional technology software that we use for collaborative learning on campus (Instructure Canvas, Jenzabar (Student Portal), and Zoom Web Conferencing. By way of the University Office 365 license, we are fully able to support and manage the device remotely.
The WHERE and The WHEN
The Surfaces have been ordered, configured, and will be available to students as they qualify to be ready for the start each academic year. To qualify, students must first be 1) registration complete with an advisor, and 2) financially clear by the Business Office. Once complete, students can proceed to the Address Verification process.

The WHY
Huston-Tillotson University is committed to extending an excellent academic experience to its students using cutting-edge academic technology removing as many technology barriers as possible. This lightweight, powerful tablet coupled with access to the Internet will allow our students to work anywhere and anytime. They will be able to connect to the University’s network, checking on your latest assignments from faculty, collaborate with other students, review lecture notes before the midterm, and stay engaged virtually in and out of class. Once cleared and enrolled students will receive their Surface loaded with wireless connectivity and the professional-level software needed for their studies and communication. Through Canvas, students can connect to the curriculum from anywhere.
