Huston-Tillotson University Track and Field Team Set to Compete at NAIA Nationals

Austin, Texas – May 16, 2024 – The Huston-Tillotson University Track and Field team is gearing up for an exciting journey to the NAIA Nationals, scheduled to take place from May 20th to May 25th at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. With a strong lineup of athletes poised to showcase their talents on a national stage, anticipation is running high within the fRAMily.

The competition schedule features an impressive lineup of events for both the women’s and men’s teams. Here are the key events and timings

 

Women’s Events:

100m: May 23, 3:20 PM- Jazmyne White

200m: May 22, 5:20 PM- Jazmyne White / Ayanna Johnson

400m: May 23, 4:00 PM- Chaleica Booker

800m: May 23, 2:30 PM- Jaymee Yelton

4×100: May 22, 3:00 PM

4×400: May 23, 8:15 PM

Triple Jump: May 23, 5:30 PM- Jazmyne White

 

Men’s Events:

110m Hurdles: May 23, 2:15 PM – Kamar Johnson

800m: May 23, 2:50 PM- Aydan – Adonis Chatman

 

The finals, the culmination of intense competition, are scheduled for Friday, May 24th.

Jazmyne White stands out as a standout athlete, having qualified for NAIA Nationals in an impressive five events. Her remarkable performances include the following:

 

100m: 11.93 seconds

200m: 24.54 seconds

4×100: 46.78 seconds

4×400: 3:50.72 seconds

Triple Jump: 39 feet 3 inches, ranking number 8 nationally in NAIA

 

The women’s track team has shown exceptional strength, with noteworthy rankings in relay events:

 

– The 4×100 Sprint Relay, comprising Dejah Okonji, Jazmyne White, Ayanna Johnson, and Chalecia Booker, holds a national ranking of 46.78 seconds in NAIA.

– The 4×400 Mile Relay, featuring Jaymee Yelton, Jazmyne White, Ayanna Johnson, and Chalecia Booker, holds a national ranking of 3.50.72 seconds, ranking number 7 nationally in NAIA.
