Huston-Tillotson University Celebrates 2023 Commencement Convocation, Honors Convocation, and Reunion Weekend

Austin, Texas – Huston-Tillotson University is pleased to announce its upcoming Commencement Convocation, Honors Convocation, and Reunion Weekend 2023. Commencement Convocation will take place on Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at Shoreline Church North, located at 15201 Burnet Road in Austin, Texas. This year’s Commencement address will be delivered by Attorney David Godsey, a 1994 alumnus of Huston-Tillotson University and a graduate of Texas Wesleyan School of Law. Mr. Godsey is a shareholder and co-founder of Godsey Martin and IJustGotHit.com. Mr. Godsey has committed to give the University one million dollars over the next ten years.

This year’s Commencement Convocation will be held in conjunction with Huston-Tillotson University’s Honors Convocation and Reunion Weekend 2023 activities. Prior to the graduation ceremony, Honors Convocation will be held on Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. also at Shoreline Church North. This year’s Honors Convocation Speaker is Mr. Jasen Campbell, M.Ed., a 2000 graduate of Huston-Tillotson University and the Principal of DeSoto High School.

Reunion Weekend activities began on Thursday, May 4, with the 33rd Marvin Douglas and Dr. General Marshall Benefit Golf Tournament at the historic Lions Municipal Golf Course. The reunion weekend headquarters is located at the Holiday Inn Midtown hotel, where events will continue through Saturday. During Commencement Convocation, in addition to the ceremony for the 2023 graduates, Huston-Tillotson University’s 50th Class of 1973 will be honored, along with members of classes ending in 3s and 8s, throughout the weekend’s festivities. Huston-Tillotson University is Austin’s first institution of higher learning and only Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The University invites the community to join us in honoring our graduates and alumni who have made phenomenal contributions to the Greater Austin Area and beyond.
