“HT students can receive guaranteed admission to graduate-level healthcare programs at Arkansas Colleges of Health Education”

Austin, TX – November 30, 2023 – Dr. Christopher Smith, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) (left) and Huston-Tillotson University (HT) President Melva Wallace (right) recently signed an education affiliation agreement that established the “Early Assurance Program,” which provides two pathways for HT students to receive guaranteed placement or a guaranteed interview in ACHE doctoral programs in osteopathic medicine, physical therapy and occupational therapy, and a master’s in biomedicine.  Participants must meet ACHE’s common program and program-specific requirements.

“We are certainly grateful to ACHE for this strategic and groundbreaking partnership that will not only enhance the educational journey of our students, but it will also strengthen our university’s position as a hub for excellence in healthcare education,” said HT President Melva Wallace. “It certainly will open doors for our students to gain the requisite skills, education and training to obtain lucrative, impactful and fulfilling careers in the health sciences sector.”

She continued, “We are excited about becoming a “feeder school” of sorts for ACHE. Our students will be empowered by the opportunities that await them at an institution known for producing outstanding healthcare professionals.”

Dr. Christopher Smith said, “At ACHE we understand the importance of fulfilling our mission to address health disparities in rural and underserved communities by recruiting, educating, and graduating competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.

Today was a profound example of fulfilling our mission by signing this agreement with Huston-Tillotson University (HT). ACHE is dedicated to establishing an intentional and sustainable relationship with HT that produces robust pathways of compassionate students dedicated to transforming the healthcare landscape. I am truly grateful to President Wallace and the HT campus for their unwavering efforts in bringing this agreement to fruition.”
