I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy…A Summer Bridge Program

The I.D.E.A.L. Summer Academy at Huston-Tillotson University will begin on June 26 to prepare incoming freshmen to begin their college careers on the path to graduation.

This Summer Bridge Program promotes an environment where students will have an opportunity to grow, while they enhance their academic and leadership possibilities. The program includes a variety of enrichment activities such as mentorship, leadership development, and career development. By attending the program, students will gain exposure to the full range of resources and facilities that are made available to them by the university.

This program focuses on building your academic and career readiness skills. Participants will be enrolled in various classes to complete six [9] hours of college-level coursework. In addition to academic enrichment, this program also provides weekly career networking opportunities, mentoring sessions with Austin community leaders, and daily tutoring sessions.

“I’m excited about the opportunity students are going to have as they matriculate and as you go through their educational experience,” said Dr. Beverly Downing, Huston-Tillotson University’s Associate Provost. “It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it. Student will have to be resilient and take advantage of every opportunity we provide.”

The six-week orientation program is I.D.E.A.L. for incoming freshmen who are looking to get a jump start on their college career and have fun in the process. The Program will begin on June 26 with an opening ceremony and conclude on August 7 with a closing ceremony. At both ceremonies, there will be food, fun, and the opportunity to learn more about what Huston-Tillotson University has to offer.

Huston-Tillotson College officially changed its name to Huston-Tillotson University on February 28, 2005.
