Community Leaders Gather at Huston-Tillotson University to Address
Educational, Social, and Economic Opportunities for Young Minority Males

(AUSTIN, Texas) 9.30.13 — Huston-Tillotson University President and Chief Executive Officer Larry L. Earvin, Ph.D., invites college age men to discuss real issues affecting the African-American male during a Brother to Brother forum.  The forum will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at 6 p.m. on the campus in King-Seabrook Chapel, located at 900 Chicon Street.

Earvin will be joined by HT’s Roderick L. Smothers, Ph.D., Vice President for Institutional Advancement; William “Teddy” McDaniel III, President and Chief Executive Officer, Austin Area Urban League;  Gregory J. Vincent, Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin Vice President and Leonard Moore, Ph.D., Associate Vice President, both in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement.

An enrollment of 973 students reflects HT’s highest enrollment since the 1952 merger of Samuel Huston and Tillotson colleges into what is now Huston-Tillotson University.  This year’s incoming class also marks 14 years of consecutive enrollment increases with a population of 54% female and 46% male students.

The Brother to Brother dialogue mirrors a series of conversations between Earvin and the student body as part of the Ram Dialogue initiative that has covered topics ranging from guns on campus to dining choices.
