Huston-Tillotson University Psychology Program Earns National Recognition

Austin, Texas — Huston-Tillotson University (HT) continues to elevate its academic reputation, while celebrating the recent recognition of its psychology program by Researc.com as one of the best in the nation for 2024 . This ranking comes on the heels of HT being named by both U.S. News & World Report and Niche as one of America’s top higher education institutions.
According to Research.com, the ranking was decided “after a meticulous analysis of a wide range of metrics conducted by a team of experienced data scientists.”
“Our name and reputation for academic excellence continue to grow,” said Huston-Tillotson University President Melva K. Wallace. “This ranking, along with the others we have received, validates the dedication of our faculty and the commitment we share to taking HT to unprecedented heights of excellence and preeminence and establishing it as a formidable force in higher education.”
Dr. Lorraine Samuels, Chair of the HT Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences, expressed enthusiasm about the growing recognition: “We were both honored and delighted to learn of this ranking,” she said. “It serves to validate what we strive to do as educators, and it is particularly rewarding when those efforts are recognized nationally. Our psychology program is rigorous, diverse, and geared to preparing scholars who will successfully be positioned for career advancement in any direction they elect to take their studies. Our program has and remains a sought-after major program that garners the attention of both prospective employees and internship sites for our majors.”
HT was also recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the best private Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Texas, the second-best HBCU in Texas overall, 9th among all regional West universities for social mobility, and 25th overall among regional west universities. Niche also ranked HT as the third-best HBCU in the nation.
