HT Celebrates Mrs. Linda Jackson for 25 Years of Stellar Service

Austin, TX – July 9, 2024 –Huston-Tillotson University is proud to recognize Mrs. Linda Jackson as she celebrates 25 years of stellar service. Over the past quarter-century, Mrs. Jackson has held numerous pivotal roles in which she exhibited exceptional leadership and dedication. Prior to her current position as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, she served as Director of Public Relations and Marketing, Director of Public Relations, Director of Media Relations, Director of University Relations, Director of the Center for civic engagement and community Outreach, and as an Adjunct Professor of Business Administration.

Often referred to as “General Jackson” because of her meticulous attention to detail and her steadfast determination to see every task through to completion, Mrs. Jackson’s laser-sharp focus on increasing community engagement and boosting donor support has not only helped to advance HT’s mission, but also inspired and positively impacted members of our Ram Family.

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jackson has represented HT in numerous community, social and civic projects and organizations that include: the Preservation Plan Working Group and Grade Level Reading Coalition-United Way of Greater Austin, the NAACP and Compassionate Austin. She has also served on Austin Independent School District’s Single-Sex School Relations and student Recruitment Action Team, the 2014 IH-35 Capital Improvement Program Mobility Stakeholder’s Working Group, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Higher Education, March of Dimes Texas State Program Services Committee, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Among her numerous honors and awards are: Huston-Tillotson University President’s Vanguard Award (2020-2021), Huston-Tillotson University Staff of the Year award (2013-2014), and the records she set as the first Black female track athlete at the University of Arkansas remain unbroken.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, a master’s in business administration from Le Tourneau in Dallas, and completed some post graduate work at Harvard Graduate School of Management and Leadership, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Linda Jackson and husband Rodney are the proud parents of daughter LaVita. A health enthusiast, Linda is also an active member of the Pinnacle of Praise Church in Round, Rock, Texas.
