Huston-Tillotson University Concert Choir Debuted at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall

NEW YORK CITY, NY – On Sunday, April 9, 2023, nineteen members of the Huston-Tillotson University (HT) Concert Choir and Director, Dr. Gloria Quinlan debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Their April 9th appearance featured accompaniment by the world-renowned New England Symphonic Ensemble and singers from around the country in a performance of The Cry of Jeremiah, a powerful original choral work by highly-acclaimed African-American choral composer Rosephanye Powell.
“Huston-Tillotson University Concert Choir received this invitation because of the high level and quality of musicianship demonstrated by the singers,” said Peter Tiboris, general director and music director of MidAmerica Productions. ”We are thrilled to have them on our roster of distinguished and esteemed musicians.”

Dr. Quinlan, echoing HT President Williams’ sentiments shared, “I tell my students I’m preparing them for the stages of the world! Last Sunday, we were performing at the CMT Country Music Awards. This Sunday, we will be performing at Carnegie Hall. We never put limits on our students.”
For 40 years, MidAmerica Productions has brought together conductors, soloists, and choral and orchestral ensembles from the U.S. and abroad to appear at New York’s top venues, including Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Weill Recital Hall, and Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall; and Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall (now David Geffen Hall) at the Lincoln Center.
