HT’s Shai Fields Named Player of the Week

WACO, Texas – Shai Fields of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) stood out as the RRAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the dates of Feb. 8-14. This is the 14th weekly award of the 2015-16 basketball season.

Fields averaged 39.0 points per game as the Rams split a pair of conference contests last week. The junior guard from Houston accounted for 34 points and five rebounds in a 100-89 loss to Texas College. Fields then erupted for 44 points with five three-pointers to spark a 107-96 road victory over University of St. Thomas (Texas). For the week, he connected on 23-of-53 field goal attempts and 25-of-30 free throws. With a nation-leading 28.3 points per game on the season, Fields is vying to become the fourth RRAC men’s basketball player to win the NAIA scoring title. Previous scoring champions were Rod Nealy (Houston Baptist, 2003), Ronnie Battle (Bacone, 2010), and Xavier Roberson (Our Lady of the Lake, 2015).
