HT Athletic Director — Dr. Monique Carroll — Named to Austin Sports Commission.

AUSTIN, Texas — Dr. Monique Carroll is the newest member of the Austin Sports Commission. Dr. Carroll was approved by a majority vote to serve as a member-at-large of the Austin Sports Commissions Board of Directors. As a board member, Dr. Carroll will help ensure that the Austin Sports Commission is acting within its adopted mission statement, help approve long-range strategic plans, help ensure the legal and ethical conduct of the Austin Sports Commission, help keep a proper balance among the interests of stakeholders, and serve as the voice of the industry, and increase effectiveness of management by rendering advice and guidance to the Austin Sports Commission. Dr. Carroll is excited to serve as Austin Sports Commission’s newest member, “I am excited about serving the greater Austin community and working with sports professionals in our city. Through collaboration the Austin Sports Commission can continue to make Austin a premier destination for sporting events and I’m looking forward to joining the board to enhance those efforts.”

Along with those key responsibilities, Dr. Carroll will attend and participate in meetings and special events on a regular basis; participate and serve on ad- hoc committees as necessary; understand the policies and procedures of the Austin Sports Commission; assist in soliciting sporting events for the City of Austin; promote the need for enhanced sporting venues in the greater region and advocate for the creation of new major events to generate a citywide economic impact such as a college football bowl game and major youth sports events.

Dr. Carroll will serve on the board for the next two years, December 2020 – December 2022.

Huston-Tillotson University

Huston-Tillotson University, the oldest institution of learning in Austin, Texas, has roots dating back to 1875. HT is an independent, church-related, historically black, four-year liberal arts institution located on a 23-acre tree-lined campus near downtown in East Austin.
