The baseball team for the upcoming season will be strengthened by our recruitment of quality pitchers. We lost two of our power hitters—Howard Limuel IV and Jamal Carrington—who were seniors. We will have about ten baseball players returning from last year that had played or started in some games.

The baseball team had ten players to receive the 2010-2011 Red River Academic Athletic Conference Award: Howard Limuel IV, Brandon O ‘Bryant, Brandon Williams, Michael Mesa, Ryan Martinez, Anthony Luna, Austin Cook, Preston Castillo, Phillip Canty, and Michael Bryant.

Two of our former baseball players are coaching at a NCAA Division I University. Michael Robertson is the head Men’s Baseball Coach at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, and Worley Barker is the head Women’s Softball Coach at Texas Southern University. In the Austin area we have a former baseball player Miguel Trevino who is the head Baseball Coach at Crockett High School and Reynaldo Rodriguez is coaching in the Round Rock Independent School District.

While coaching here at the University, I was able to coach my grandson Howard Limuel IV for four years and to my surprise one of my former players John Paz Sr. has enrolled his son here at the University to play baseball.  John Sr. is coaching at a private school in the valley.
