
Dr. Kathy Schwab
Kathy is a Professor of Biology. She has taught Biology at Huston-Tillotson University since 1981. She currently teaches all levels of students from freshmen to seniors and she teaches both majors and non-majors. Kathy also serves as advisor to biology majors. She currently teaches or has taught Environmental Biology, Botany, Organisms and Evolution, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Genetics. Her teaching interests also include entomology, ornithology, and parasitology.
Kathy holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology & physiology from Miami University in Ohio, and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her primary field of study was the genetics of Drosophila melanogaster.
Kathy is a member of the Association for Biology Laboratory Education (ABLE) and was a board member for several years. Kathy has been a long-time member of the Travis Audubon Society and was also a board member for several years. She participates annually in the Christmas bird count sponsored by the National Audubon Society.
In her spare time, Kathy and her husband enjoy travelling, birding, and attending University of Texas baseball and football games.
