RTC FAQs

We understand transitioning to college can be a bit overwhelming.  Huston-Tillotson is here to help you along the way, while creating new, festive memories.

Ram Training Camp 2021 (RTC) will be held both virtually and in-person. Due to the on-going Safe and Healthy Rams plan concerns surrounding COVID-19, events taking place Monday August 16 and Tuesday August 17 will be held virtually.

The following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) is for new first-year and transfer students.

When does orientation take place? 

RTC 2021 runs from Monday August 16th to Sunday August 22nd.  Visit the RTC 2021 site in Canvas for details, links and tickets to events.  Click here for a list of RTC 2021 activities at a glance.

 

Who is required to attend orientation? 

New transfer students living off-campus must attend Day 1 and Day 2 virtual activities, while all traditional new students are required to attend all RTC 2021 activities.

 

How long does RTC 2021 take? 

Ram Training Camp runs the course of 7 days, Monday August 16 – Sunday August 22.  Per the RTC 2021 schedule, Day 1 and Day 2 virtual sessions will last approximately 45 minutes and will be followed immediately by the next session.  In-person activities All virtual and in-person sessions are in Central Standard Time (CST).

 

I am an International student. Do I attend RTC 2021? 

Yes.  All new students must attend RTC 2021 activities, including international students.  International students should first confirm move-in date and time with Residence Life, then work to coordinate travel to Huston-Tillotson University prior to in-person RTC activities. Where do I locate RTC details, including virtual session Zoom links? 

Access the RTC 2021 site in Canvas. Students are encouraged to download the Canvas Student App – it’s FREE!  Visit the tech support site to learn how to sign into Canvas, including steps in how to download the Canvas Student App.

 

How can I learn how to use Canvas? 

Canvas is HT’s learning management system that supports teaching and learning.   All students can become familiar with Canvas by completing the Canvas Student Orientation.  This module is located on the Dashboard, once signed into Canvas. Visit the tech support site to learn how to sign into Canvas and get started!

 

Do student guests, such parents, family and friends attend RTC 2021? 

Guests who attend RTC 2021 with you will not participate in campus activities, rather they will be invited to 1) assist their student with move-in, and 2) parents will attend a specific session, Parent Orientation scheduled 6:30pm CST Monday August 16.

 

How do I stay connected and monitor RTC announcements? 

Stay connected!  Follow & post using #HTRTC2021 and #HTReunited2021 on all social media platforms.  It is important to follow @caeassist on IG for all RTC announcements.
