Citizens Engaging Higher Education Institutes: A Conference with Texas HBCUs

Citizens Engaging Higher Education Institutes:  A Conference with Texas HBCUs
October 29-30, 2021

Huston-Tillotson University students engaged in experiential learning with University faculty and staff, and individuals and community partners are planning on hosting a two-day conference on the campus of the University this fall. The conference will bring together Texas HBCU’s and other people and organizations of goodwill who seek to work together to address community needs in Texas, including state higher education funding of HBCUs. The conference focus is community-centered publicpolicy research and development working with civically engaged higher education institutions as partners. Insights from the emerging field of civic studies provide the disciplinary context. The focus helps shed light on the achievements of HBCUs and the role of education as “the great equalizer.”

Plan to submit a conference proposal. The link also provides a full description of the conference. https://forms.gle/YCQmKKH2zrHhzD8A9
