‘Rosenward’ Film Screening

“Rosenward”

A film about Julius Rosenwald who, as president of Sears and inspired by the work of Booker T. Washington, worked with African Americans in the Jim Crow South to build 5,300 schools.  This Jewish philanthropist gave away $62 million in his lifetime.

 

The showing will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director Aviva Kempner (a child of Holocaust survivor Helen Ciesla and Harold Kempner) and HT historians Drs. Alaine Huston and Theodore Francis.

 

This event is sponsored by HT’s Pi Gamma Mu and NAACP chapters.  It will show in the AL Auditorium.  The event is free and open to the public.
