Here is a production picture from last night featuring HT students as Ethiopians (recognize anyone?)  in the Austin Opera production of AIDA. Mr. Donnie Ray Albert, international baritone, performs the role of Ethiopian King Amornasro and Ms. Karen Slack performs the lead role of AIDA.

Stephen Burnaman, D.M.A.
Chair, Dept. of Humanities and Fine Arts
Professor of Music
Yes, 12 of our music majors are in the chorus.  I was at the dress rehearsal last night, and our students were completely professional on stage with a stellar cast of international performers.  I was so proud of them!  We should also thank Dr. Gloria Quinlan for her efforts regarding this collaboration with Austin Opera.

Congratulations to our music majors!

Katherine Durham Oldmixon, PhD, MFA
Professor and Chair of English
Director of the Writing Program
One of my Intro to Creative Writing students, a music major, is one of the students performing in AIDA–and he’s very excited about it and clearly learning a lot from it.  He’s writing his creative non-fiction piece on that experience.  He has also extolled Dr. Quinlan’s powerful support for her students.  Kudos, all around!
