Professor Ashley Nash
Ashley L. Williams joined the HT faculty in fall 2011. She teaches first- year writing courses. In addition to being a member of NCTE, she is always seeking out new and innovative strategies and opportunities to sharpen her craft. As a proud HT graduate, she is heavily invested in the growth and success of students.
Ashley graduated summa cum laude in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in English. Within a year, she found herself working on the front lines of higher education at Austin Community College. However, she never forgot the rewarding experiences of working in HT’s Writers’ Studio. Her fond memories of working with her peers on various writing assignments prompted a return to college, so she could teach college level writing. In 2011, she earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree from St. Edward’s University. Her graduate work focused on the function, purpose and relevance of Confessional poetry in modern society, which was overseen by her mentor, Dr. Katherine Oldmixon.
Ashley has many people to thank for her love of all things English. She is deeply indebted to the talented and enthusiastic English faculty at HT. In addition, she is incredibly grateful to her parents. Their gifts are priceless. Her mother taught her to read and write, and her father allowed her to read to him.
