Mr. Ryan Sharp
Ryan Sharp teaches writing and art courses, while also serving as the coordinator of the Writers’ Studio at HT. A member of the editorial staff at Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review, Sharp’s poetry and book reviews have been published in the US, UK, and New Zealand in journals such as Callaloo, Silk Road, JAAM, Rio Grande Review, and PANK.
Sharp holds an MFA in Writing from Pacific University, where his thesis focused on the use of persona in contemporary African American poetry. Sharp received his BA in Education with an endorsement in Language Arts from Concordia University Portland. While at CU, Sharp was a three-year varsity letterman on the baseball team and a member of Sigma Tau Delta.
Ryan came to Austin via Portland, OR with his wife, Abigail, and his two children. He is very excited about being part of the family here at Huston-Tillotson University.
