WACO, Texas — Ivan Kovacevic of Texas Wesleyan University and Cesar Silva (right) of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for the dates of Sept. 5-11, while HT’s Juan Maya and TWU’s Dejan Milosevic were honored as the RRAC Co-Defensive Players of the Week for the same dates.
Kovacevic, a sophomore midfielder from Kakanj, Bosnia, scored a career-high four goals in addition to an assist as the Rams trounced Dallas Christian College (Texas), 9-1, last Tuesday. He also assisted on the goal that provided the difference in TWU’s 3-1 victory over Central Christian College (Kan.) last week. The Rams are now 3-1 on the season.
Silva, a junior midfielder from Houston, Texas, had another big week with three goals in two more HT wins. He netted one goal in a 2-1 win over Concordia University (Texas) and chipped in two more to dispatch Mid-America Christian University (Okla.), 3-1. The HT Rams increased their streak to 4-0 on the year.
Maya, a freshman defender from Austin, Texas, played a big role in the Rams’ defense again as they limited their opponents to two goals en route to a pair of wins.
Milosevic, a junior goalkeeper from Belgrade, Serbia, was credited with both of TWU’s wins last week while collecting eight saves and allowing just two goals.
