Rams Reach Final Four!
Tuesday Nov, 05 2013
The Lady Rams have reached the Final Four of the Red River Athletic Conference for the first time in their six year history after beating Texas College 4-0 at home on Saturday in Round One of the Playoff Tournament.
The team used this opportunity to honor their four outstanding senior players who have served HT so well since joining the team as freshmen in the 2010-11 Season. Courtney Wilcut, Alba Mendoza, Helen Rios, and Victoria Reyes all received fantastic shadow boxes as reward for their efforts.
The game was completely dominated by HT from start to finish. A typical cutting run from the right from forward Victoria Elizalde resulted in a penalty kick when she was fouled inside the area. Courtney Wilcut stepped up and made no mistakes to make it 1-0. Then came a wonder goal from freshman midfield player Erica Ramos. She chested down the ball on the edge of the box and smashed in a left foot volley to make it 2-0 going into the half.
Another senior, Tori Reyes then added another goal to her excellent season when she floated in a free kick from 35 yards to make it 3-0. Then the icing on the cake as Ramos crossed from the right to fellow freshman Adrina Villa who stooped at the far post to head home the 4th goal.
The Lady Rams now travel to Houston to face UTB in the semi-final of the Final Four Championship. The game is on Friday, Nov 8th, 3 p.m. kick off at the Houston Amateur Sports Park: 12131 Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas, 77045
It will surely be a wonderful experience for the team!
