Poor First Half Costs HT!

The HT Women’s Soccer team visited Texas Lutheran University on Sunday Sept 15th on the back of a great midweek performance vs Concordia. Despite a lively opening 5 minutes from the Rams, the ladies then failed to compete anywhere near their highest level for the remainder of the half and thus gifted TLU a 3-0 half-time lead.
The second half was a much different story. Right from the whistle the Rams came out fighting and contested every ball, looking for a way back into the match. Despite their improved efforts, some individual errors allowed TLU to add 2 more simple goals and effectively secure the result for their team.
HT then sprung into life with an energetic last 20 minutes. A Victoria Reyes free kick from the right was diverted into the goal with a glancing header from Savannah Albiar. Minutes later, another Reyes corner kick was again met by Albiar with a header to grab her second of the game, 5-2. Then, great work from Adrina Villa down the left released striker Victoria Elizalde who made no mistake in beating the TLU defense for pace before slotting the ball inside the near post to make it 5-3.
The game ended 5-3, but this was another indication of the huge potential this HT team possesses this season should they find a way to compete from the very first whistle.
