Lady Ram’s volleyball takes Third Place in OPSU Tournament.

Goodwell, OK — The Lady Rams volleyball team traveled to Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) and took Third Place in the Aggie Challenge Tournament. On the first day the Lady Rams lost both matches to the University of the Southwest 13-25, 17-25, 11-25 and to Southwestern Christian University 23-25, 17-25, 23-25. Leading off the second day against the host team OPSU, the Lady Rams won the first game of the match 25-21 and dropping the next three 21-25, 20-25, 18-25.
Final statistics for the tournament has freshman setter A’Kia Mumphrey (Longview/Longview HS) with 60 assists averaging 4 per set and 18 digs with support from senior setter Olivia Sanchez (San Antonio/Palo Alto CC) with 48 assists averaging 3.2 per set and 22 digs. Senior right side hitter Nicole Cowan (Yoakum/UMHB) led the offensive attack with 29 kills and 52 digs on defense. Supporting Cowan were freshmen Kayla Garrett (Beaumont/Central Magnet HS) and D’Janae Robinson (San Antonio/Northwest Vista College) with 28 and 24 kills respectively. On the defensive side, junior libero Amber Green (San Antonio/Roosevelt HS) had 68 digs with Robinson’s 45 digs kept the offense alive.
Next Opponents: The Lady Rams open their home season on Wednesday, September 11, against NCAA Division I Texas Southern University at Eastside Memorial High School located at 1012 Arthur Stiles Rd here in Austin, Texas.
