HT Renovates For A New Face

This semester we look forward to the official opening of both, the new Communications Center in Agard-Lovinggood and the newly renovated Downs-Jones Library. Anticipated open house dates will be in February for the center and March for the library.  Special thanks to Director of Library and Media Services, Mrs. Patricia Wilkins, Associate Professor of Communication, Dr. Adams-Means and the entire Steering Committee for their leadership on these initiatives.

The Board of Trustees approved a proposal from university management to fund residence hall renovations and reconstruct the Chalmers street parking lot.  We recognize that these improvements are critical to the quality of life on campus.

Regarding other campus activity, several deferred maintenance projects started or concluded in December 2012:
*
The exterior of the campus Bell Tower has now been restructured to preserve this proud landmark.
*Johnson Controls completed installation of new energy efficient lighting, plumbing fixtures and HVAC equipment.
*Designs for the chapel restrooms are under development.
*Newly installed roofs on the Downs-Jones Library, the Dickey-Lawless Science Building and the King-Seabrook Chapel.
*University management has also been working to address the condition of  Mary A. Branch Gymnasium.

As we embark upon a new year, let us be thankful for the blessings both evident and pending across the campus!
