Spring 2013 Classes Begin Jan. 7th.

(AUSTIN, Texas) 12.10.12  — The Spring 2013 semester and classes at Huston-Tillotson University will begin on Monday, Jan. 7.  Residence hall move in is scheduled on Thursday, Jan 3 and New Student Orientation on Friday, Jan. 4.

Huston-Tillotson University offers Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees in biology, business administration, communication, chemistry, computer science, criminal justice, education, English, history, kinesiology, mathematics, music, music education, political science, psychology and sociology.  A minor can be earned in most of the disciplines, including religions studies and African and African American Studies.

An enrollment of 918 students in 2012 reflected the University’s highest enrollment since the 1952 merger of Samuel Huston and Tillotson colleges into what is now Huston-Tillotson University. The University also graduated its largest class in 2012. HT, a four-year, historically black, liberal arts University, is Austin’s oldest institution of higher education.

Programs attractive to students that also improve achievement while matriculating include the Center for Academic Excellence, W.E.B. DuBois Honors Program, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Women Advancing in Leadership and Knowledge (WALK), Male Achievement and Persistence (MAP), and a Writers’ Studio.  The campus is also undergoing a transformation with the complete renovation of the Downs-Jones Library; the opening of the new communication center to complement the updated communication major; and the addition of learning spaces for reading, dialogue, and engagement as a result of the Ram Revolution.
