HT Goes Close Against Northwood

A tightly contested game from start to finish saw HT women’s soccer search for their much deserved first victory of the Red River Conference season. Northwood did take a first half lead with their one and only real clear opening of the game. HT’s defense coupled with great work from GK April Taylor was making it very difficult for Northwood to break them down and add to their lead. HT’s second half performance was one of great character. More pressure on the Northwood defense earned a free-kick in a dangerous position. Holding midfielder Bessy Lopez stepped up to crash a great effort off of the cross-bar, just inches away from the equalizer. HT threw more players forward leaving the back line open to possible counters. Sure enough in the final minutes, Northwood grabbed their second on the counter attack. Final score, HT 0-2 Northwood.
