First-year student Montranique Smith jumped to a three-way tie of 5 ft. 5 in. in the women’s high jump during a meet at Trinity University to qualify for the 2012 Women’s Outdoor NAIA Track and Field Championship to be held in Marion, Indiana.

HT, in Austin, is a coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences, operating jointly under the auspices of the American Missionary Association of the United Church of Christ, and the Board of Education of The United Methodist Church. Huston-Tillotson College officially changed its name to Huston-Tillotson University on February 28, 2005.
